Standing Up.
Losing face isn't something he was willing to do. Especially not in front of all of his friends for he didn't want them to think he was not cool like they were. He reluctantly got off his seat to exit the movie theater, even though his heart pleaded him to finish the movie he had started watching, if not for anything else. for at least doing justice to the money he paid to get the ticket, which again is not true because he really did like the movie and he really did want to watch it.
Even though his scenario made him lose a couple of minutes of the movie, just before he exited, he changed his mind and started walking towards his seat again, just by himself. His friends turned around a shrugged "Seriously? You are going to sit through this pain of a movie?". He couldn't think of any valid reason that they would understand, but then again, they didn't need to understand, so he just blurted out the truth "I think I kind of like the movie, I want to give it a chance to see where and how it ends.", he meekly told them. It was the first time ever that he stood up for something he wanted. It was his first time ever, respecting his own self. It was his first time ever, being brave and alone at the same time. It was his first time ever, not caving in and being a part of the crowd, swallowing pride, self-esteem and dignity. It might not sound like the biggest of deals to anyone who just sees this from the perspective of the third person, but to him it meant everything. He was his own hero for the very first time and he enjoyed it. He really did take a stand for himself and he felt like he's done something right for the first time at least in a very long time.
The movie let him down though, if you're curious. But it really wasn't about the movie. It was about him for a change.
