Fortune Favours the Brave
This is a topic that hits close to home to many a people as
millions around the world are stuck in this exact predicament. Should they
improve or should they accept their “fates”? This can be answered in a couple
of different ways, from different perspectives.
If you are logical in your approach, and you know about
yourself, and you are working in a role that doesn’t satisfy you, and you
qualify yourself as someone who has to do it for reasons that are similar to
feeding your family or having a roof over your head, it is natural to come to
the conclusion that it is best for you to stick to that role no matter how
uncomfortable or disheartening it is to continue to do it. If your family’s
livelihood is at stake and you are stuck with few options, it is very natural
to want to endure the pain as it is for the greater good, which is the well
being of your family. I have myself been in this predicament where I have felt
I could do much better but because I felt stuck and afraid of what the future
might hold, I ended up sticking with it for a while. Fortunately, my reasons
were solely based on fears regarding my future and not on my family’s
well-being, so I was able to convince myself that I could do better if I just
tried to change things and turn the tides.
There is a saying that goes “Fortune favours the brave”. The
reason I bring it up is because the best way to bring about a change is by
facilitating and accommodating a space for change to take place. Accepting our
“fates” is the exact opposite of facilitating and accommodating change. There
is always a way out of every bad situation, but it can only be found out by
people who push their boundaries and try to make something better of
themselves. It cannot be achieved by people who choose not to evolve and
improve their skillsets. It cannot be achieved if you choose to believe in
limitations set by others for you. Nothing bad could happen if you improve your
education levels, your skillset, your knowledge and your thirst for a better
life. Hard-work, perseverance, determination, courage, sincerity, diligence are
just a few of the attributes that are necessary to completely turn the tides in
your life. You are always only a few right steps away from the life you want to
live, if you’re not already living it and those steps, while tough, aren’t hard.
They are simple formulas, but are not for everyone. Only people who want to
pursue those roads not travelled will get there. It might take them some time,
but they will get there.
