Our Planet
When it comes to environmental
issues, I believe that there is no one issue that is more important than another
issue. Elimination of entire species of plants and animals is a huge issue,
just like releasing harmful toxins into the atmosphere and rivers and oceans.
Deforestation and unsustainable use of power are also big issues. Depending
heavily on non-renewable sources of energy and polluting the planet severely is
another big issue. Destroying oceanic wildlife but dumping garbage into oceans
and killing oceanic creatures is also a massive issue. I can go on, but I think
it is understandable that no single issue is less or more important than any
other single issue. They are all big issues and they need to be given equal
importance in all levels and they need to be sorted out one at a time or
collectively, without overlooking any of them.
Several studies have been made on
several different environmental issues and if there is one thing that I and all
of us as humans need to understand, it is that ecological balance is of huge
importance for all the living beings to lead sustainable lives. Killing off an
entire species and making species of plants and animals go extinct artificially
is going to completely disrupt the ecological balance of this planet. For
instance, if we hunt down all of the wild tigers and lions, which we have tried
to do in the past, the number of herbivores in forests would skyrocket. They
would in turn consume crops, plants and vegetables in rates we can’t fathom,
and they’ll eventually run out of natural grasslands and forests and start
moving towards human habitations. They’ll attack farmlands and other places of
human sustenance and this will very well result in starvation of human beings.
Therefore, it is extremely important that we understand the need to conserve
all species of lives. Disrupting the ecological balance is never a good idea and
we’ll pay heavy prices if we assume it isn’t an issue.
Of course, there are other issues
to pay attention too, issues like global warming, sea caps rising, oceanic
pollution, land and air pollution, consumption of fossil fuels and so many
more, but all of these issues are equally important to pay attention to and
sort. Ignoring one to focus on the other is only going to worsen the one being
ignored and is going to affect us in the long run. It is important for a
sustainable future that we collectively address all environmental issues, if
not one at a time.
Love, peace.
An Earthian.
