Honesty

One thing you cannot be in life is self-contradictory. Because that's just stupid and hypocritical and that warrants nothing but negative consequences, rightfully so as well. Why would you say something and do something else? Why would you even say something if you never planned on following through with it? If it's for name, fame and glory, you get none of it if you only claim to do it and not do it at the end of the day. Especially if you're giving your word that you're donating to charities for the sake of boosting your ego, and you end up not doing it and are completely unapologetic of it, you're only making a fool of yourself. Because not only is it a cowardly thing to do, to lie about people's well beings, which is what charities are about, it's also strangely descriptive of who you are as a person. It tells the world that you're someone to never indulge in any business with because you're untrustworthy. One of the most difficult traits to see in humans is honesty for a reason.
