Thinkers.
This generation is arguably the smartest generation that has ever existed on this planet. Of course, every generation that has existed before this has also claimed the same claim and every generation that is to exist in the future will also make the same claim.
Hello there, I'm the Earthian.
And to support this claim, evidences of improved literacy rates and other educational statistics pop out every now and then and we get convinced we are the smartest. But are we truly the smartest?
I mean, sure, a lot more of us are aware of what's happening in and around our country, a lot of us have the basic knowledge to read and write our own language, a lot of us are able to use all of the technological gadgets of this century without having to carry a manual around, a lot of us are employed as skilled and technical labourers and so on but there is always this question, are we really the smartest to have ever existed? Just because we are more aware, just because we have more knowledge than the previous generations, does it mean we actually are smarter than them?
Smartness comes from the ability of a person to think. Think originally, critically and pragmatically. And while this generation is smart enough to think in all those ways, our generation doesn't do it all that often. We only think when we need to and when we do think, we think only in a certain way. Most of us are trained to think in a certain way. We don't dare to step out of the logic zone and we don't dare to question things. But, we weren't always this way. There were so many scientists and artists who couldn't just confine themselves to the logic that they were taught. Like Sir Isaac Newton, he didn't have to think about why the apple fell down. But he did. And he figured out gravity which has answered so many questions. Sir Newton is just one of them. Tesla, Curie, Bohr, Einstein are a few more. They weren't afraid to test out the horizons. And I'm sure if we started to think a little more originally, we could do great things too. Think about it.
Lots of love, peace.
