Ego.
There's nothing to be embarrassed about admitting we've been performing badly. That, in fact, is one of the only ways to improve. To recognise there is a problem is how you approach solving it. Pretending everything is fine and hoping things get better is never, ever going to solve anything for anyone. It isn't by chance that we're underperforming, if it happens regularly. It's something more, something obvious, something that can completely drive our egos crazy. Do we have the wherewithal to overcome that? That's the question because if you let your who win, you won't. And you'll only win when your ego takes a hit. A massive hit. It's okay though. Losses and defeats only are meaningful when you've learned nothing. If you've learned, if you've done enough, win or lose. Remember that, and you'll go places.
Love, peace.
