Development.

I wonder where it is that humanity is headed. I mean, every opportunity that people have to exploit someone's innoncence and/ or someone else's ignorance, people do take it. They take it and they run with it.

And as long as bad things don't happen to them personally, most don't even try to show signs of caring about them. Its their own safety that they care about and I'm not sure exactly how to feel about them. A part of me wants every single one of us to start not taking everything for granted because we're presumably safe. Nobody ever is safe in a world where the biggest predators are our own selves. The lessons that we teach ourselves, the selfishness that we preach to our own selves, the lack of character that we display, are all just some of the attributes that make me reconsider if human beings are actually developing. What we call development fails to strike me as development in the larger scale, mostly because its relative to the people that we are, but also because it just doesn't feel like we're making any progress with everything that's happening on a day-to-day basis. I wonder if its all just me though.
