Reality Checks.
It's extremely fair to say that people will tolerate us, be friends with us, entertain us and basically just keep us in the loop only as long as we say things that they like listening to, only as long as we are who they want us to be. The moment we start deviating from whomever they want to see in us, whatever positive relationship we had with them starts becoming negative.
Hello there, I am the Earthian.
It's funny, how we operate. I mean, we just have subliminal expectations from just about everyone. Our expectations are bound to let us down. That's why they are literally called expectations. Reality is always a little different and all of us know this. Literally every single person knows that reality is different but there always is a hapless romantic inside our little hearts that just keeps hoping that maybe, just maybe, it'll get to meet someone really special and that things will all just fall into place.
Expectations are beautiful, sure. Expectations are built with ideals in the mind. Expectations are based off of a little bit of selfless selfishness and a little bit of purity. But we often romanticize expectations in such a way that we start disliking the reality that is provided to us just because we can. Reality, as much as we might dislike it, isn't necessarily all that bad. We just don't want to accept it for what it is. I mean, think about all the people we have let out of our lives because we thought they were bad for us. Think about all the predicaments that we chose to escape from because we were uncomfortable in them. Think about all the people we have hurt because we had been hurt by them. Also, think about those people we have let go off because we thought they were too good for us. Think about all the people, all the pure and beautiful people we have taken advantage of only because we knew they won't retaliate. Think about all those astounding people that we left behind because we just couldn't handle their goodness.
If people fall into either sides of of our spectrum we reject them. Because, well, that's just who and how we have been and we'll continue to be. Is it sad? bad? perhaps even good? I don't know. I just know that it doesn't have to be any of that. Everything and everyone is fine, just the way they are and it's high time we start realizing that, is how I feel about it. Just the realization would suffice. Think about it.
With a heart full of love, peace.
