What's stopping us from Caring?
I sometimes just wish that people thought about more than just themselves. No, not in a motivational, "the world is too selfish and I'm disappointed in it" way, but just in a good way. Just think of a world where everyone just genuinely cares for eachother.
Hello there, I'm the Earthian.
First of all, it sounds like heaven. And second of all, it sounds second to impossible. But most importantly, it sounds like a dream that is worth dreaming about.
Sure, the vast differences in cultures, the geographic locations, the everyday practices, the environment, not to mention, patriotism towards people's own countries and hate towards every other country when it comes to quarrels and so many more factors just hinder this silly scenario that I have in my head. But as long as they are just factors, they can be worked on and changed. Changed for the better. As a citizen, we are taught to care mostly about our country. As a community person, we are taught to care more about our communities. As a family person, we are taught to care extremely for our own families. But as a human being, neither are we taught to care about humanity, nor do we even think about caring for the whole of humanity. If humanity is in that state, what state do you reckon "Being an Earthian" is in.
It doesn't take a lot though, all you have to do is erase all of the things that stop you from being the caring person that you want to be. And keep trying.
Lots of love, peace.
