We humans always like comparisons. We always want to pick the best item, given certain conditions. We pick the "best" phone in the market depending on our budgets, we go to restaurants depending on the ratings, we go to movies depending on the actors and the list goes on.

Hello all! It's The Earthian!

The bottom line is, we always compare whatever we have. We just like comparing stuff.
I have been compared with a lot of people the whole of my short life. I'm 18 for those who are wondering. I've been compared with neighbors, class mates, friends, fellow singers... And a kinda bad thing is, I've been compared to these people by my alleged "close" people.

Comparisons occur when we set a benchmark, standard. And when comparison sets in well, competition picks the pace up. Everyone is gunning for the top spot. Not that these are bad, I just don't agree with them. Why set a benchmark in the first place? Should there always be something or someone to compare a talent, a product with? If someone sees a good singer/musician, most would be like "He's gonna be the next MJ". Why can't one be the original himself? Why should one always be relatable on a frame of reference? Why can't one just be one? Understand this, comparing yourself to someone on a field similar to yours will never fetch you great heights. Because, on comparing, you're deciding your own limits. So when you reach this, you'll feel successful. Not even for a moment, will you be able to think that there might just be a height greater than that.
This is exactly why I get offended a little when I'm compared. I'm my original, true self. While I appreciate someone's achievements, I don't see them as my benchmark.

I hope you got my point.

Lots of love, The Earthian. ✌️
