The "Other".
I find it really funny when people alienate a person because he is different, because he is isn't the "normal" person that they are so used to seeing. They alienate him because he doesn't fall into the same pattern that people have been used to seeing in people all their life. He is unique and that intimidates people. Intimidates even though he doesn't bother anyone.
Hello there, I'm the Earthian.
Remember how you were with your friends as a group and you were having fun with them but then you all noticed the quiet classmate who never talks to people? You know, the classmate you usually ignore and mock unless you want a favour from him?
Yeah well, he isn't all that different from you. You'd know that if you had ever attempted to talk to him, but no, he is different and you're just afraid he'll embarrass you. I don't blame you though. He doesn't either. But he sure has noticed it.
But he doesn't mind, just like you. He doesn't mind being the unfitting "other" in your group. But he sure does mind when you hurt him with what you say without any sort of prior knowledge of who he is.
Your perception about a person without talking to them will always be in the lines of who you think they could be. So chances are, you're wrong. Next time you have to choose between ignoring and connecting, choose wisely.
Lots of love, peace.
